Cyclone Phailin Appeal from India

Requested by

Rapid Response

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

On 12th October, 2013, Cyclonic Phailin, classified as “very severe”, has made landfall near Gopalpur on Odisha coast, India.

Heavy rains with winds speed up to 220 kilometers per hour lashed the region with flooded roads, uprooted trees and electricity poles. It’s also caused one of the largest evacuation operations in Indian history, forced 800,000 people to live in temporary shelters.

What is your project and how will it help?

Having worked in several major disasters earlier, Rapid Response knew that immediate response is crucial for helping the most vulnerable survivors.

Rapid Response is preparing to provide much-needed relief supplies, including water, food baskets and hygiene kits to the families affected by the cyclone. To scale up these efforts, we desperately need your support.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

We welcome all kind of partnership opportunities.

For this project we look for monetary donations for emergency kits.

Please detail the resources that you need.

Relief Package Which contains food items, water, hygiene kit, torch light and a blanket for 2000 families. Each Kit costs Rs. 1200/- US$ 20
