Afghanistan Dental Relief Project

Afghanistan Dental Relief Project, Inc.Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?
Our organization, Afghanistan Dental Relief Project, Inc, a 501C3 and Afghan NGO non-profit, is dedicated to restoring the missing dental technical infrastructure within Afghanistan. Our organization was formed in 2003 to provide free basic dental care to all Afghans, and to educate young disadvantaged adults as dental technicians: hygienists, assistants, and laboratory technicians. We are trying to address the almost complete lack of access of Afghan citizens to dental care in Afghanistan. Because 90% of Afghans cannot access dental care, death from systemic septicemia from multiple abscessed teeth is common.
What is your project and how will it help?
Since 2007, we have operated a clinic with seven treatment rooms and up to sixteen employees to provide free, basic dental care to Afghan citizens. We have treated over 100,000 patients at this point. In addition, we have graduated certified dental hygienists, dental assistants, and dental lab technicians from our approved technician training programs through the Ministry of Public Health. We are able to expand our programs if we find the right partners.
How can other people partner with you on your project?
We are able to access military surplus through the disposal program operating at three military bases inside Afghanistan. To be registered to do this, we are required as an organization to register with Dun & Bradstreet and be approved through a financial audit of our business records. We have an annual budget of around $100,000, which is below the required $500,000 minimum annual budget required to register for D & B approval. We are also eligible for free shipping through the Denton Program with the State Department, and we have three packed shipping containers filled with over $2 Million in new technology in California ready to ship, but we are missing the critical Dun & Bradstreet DUNS registration to do this. If we had this registration, we would also be able to apply for USAID grants to expand our services. If your organization has the DUNS registration from Dun & Bradstreet, we are interested in forming an association with Hope Worldwide in order that we might expand our project even more.
