Uganda Youth Skills Training OrganizationWho are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?
We are interested in developing vocational skills training for young people both in and out of school. The issue we are addressing is the need for more and better vocational skills training for young people in Uganda. This has inspired Uganda Youth Skills Training project to offer a range of different skills to young people to encourage economic growth. The skills we currently offer include carpentry, tailoring,plumbing, information and computer technology (ICT); brick laying,concrete and practice, and leather and shoe work. Through our programme we aim:
1.To reduce vulnerability and dependency among the young people by 20% in ou rural catchment area;
2.To mobilize and sensitize over 12,000 youths in Kampala.
3.To advocate and mainstream vocational training skills with other trainings.
4.To reduce the problem of unemployment by 10% of the youths.
5.To provide 40% of counselling and guidance services to youths on psychosocial and economic issues.
We also want to ensure that vocational skills are incorporated into other training programmes.
