Community development to help the most needy in Uganda
Requested by
Access for Action Uganda (ACFA Uganda)Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?
We initially started with a goal of addressing the marginalization of persons with disabilities but we later realized the need to expand our service provision to:
- Orphans
- Children under difficult circumstances
- The youth
- Poor men and women
What is your project and how will it help?
We have a number of projects through which our services reach the beneficiaries:
1 Education:
a) Vocational skill provision (we train youth and young adults in employable skills in computer applications, carpentry, tailoring, and metal fabrications
b) Education Service Provision: Under this project, our effort aims at providing sponsorship to disabled, orphans, and needy children who would otherwise not attend school. Our experience so far shows such an enormous need that we hope to start up schools in order to reach out to more.
2 Health:
a) We have been promoting the sexual reproductive health needs and rights of persons with disabilities.
b) Counseling and guidance, life skills to the youth and young adults with and without disabilities.
3 Agriculture:
a) Under this programme, we have a project called “Community Livelihood” which aims to improve the lives of communities through enhanced food security.
How can other people partner with you on your project?
We strongly believe in the power of partnership to solve the most challenging global issues. We welcome partners on any issues highlighted above, through funding, technical support, volunteers, instruction/training material and/or equipment provision, provision of capital equipments (vehicles, motorcycles, etc) and any other support that could help us reach out to as many beneficiaries as we could.
Please detail the resources that you need.
The nature of work we do needs both financial and in-kind resources.
Financial Resources:
Though we appreciate that the nature and scope of our work is quite enormous, this is entirely dependent on the generosity of our partners who contribute in accordance to their capacities, both financially and in kind. We therefore, welcome any contribution that you can make so that those who need your support, those who need to share the little the world could offer, would be reached out.
In-Kind Support: We also welcome support in-kind including instruction/training materials and equipments, and the capital equipments that could facilitate our work with the most needy communities.
