Requested by

Entrust Foundation

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

The world is a place of great need. Sadly, most of the heartache and pain is unseen by us and therefore never properly addressed. The Entrust Foundation helps the poorest of the poor, forgotten people on this planet. With over 30 years of experience, we have identified 4 major Causes, which if addressed will make the world a happier, safer and better place to live.

One of these causes is Access to Clean Water & Sanitation, 1.6 billion people need sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation.

Clean Water is an everyday necessity. A daily privilege for us and a daily heartache for many. 4,500 children will die today from water related diseases. How can we help?

What is your project and how will it help?

The Need:
One of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) is to halve the proportion of the population without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation by 2015. With half the developing world without basic sanitation, meeting the MDG target will require extraordinary efforts.

An estimated 1.6 billion people will need access to improved sanitation over the period 2005-2015 to meet the MDG target. Yet if the current trend continues, the world is likely to miss the target by almost 600 million people.

The health, economic and social repercussions of open defecation, poor hygiene and lack of safe drinking water are well documented. Together they contribute to about 88 per cent of the deaths due to diarrhoeal diseases, in more than 1.5 million children under five years of age.

Funding allocated to the cause of access to clean water & sanitation will go toward cutting edge projects across the globe that;

Provide material aid and train locals in well construction & implementing community based projects.
Provision and training in health care which directly reduces death from life threatening diseases.
Enable thousands to have easy access to safe drinking water.
Ensure a healthy future though education of individuals & communities in health,sanitation & hygiene
Training to assist communities maintain good health & nutrition.
