Maldives Humanitarian Customs Regulations

This document was submitted in response to a questionnaire distributed by Global Hand regarding humanitarian customs information. It provides regulations for importing humanitarian aid into Maldives.

  • Bill of lading/airway bill
  • Commercial invoice
  • Packing list
  • Deed of donation

Prohibited Goods

Prohibited items and restricted items are not allowed as humanitarian aid. Details of these items are furnished on Customs Website: http://www.customs.gov.mv

Tax Exemption

Tax exemption is available to all humanitarian goods and non-profit consignees.

Pre-shipment application

Goods imported by non-profit consignee should accompany National Disaster Management UnitÂ’s authorization letter.

Monetary Valuation

Customs require monetary valuation for the shipment on the consignment as a whole, and for each individual item, in any currency.

Restrictions

There are no restrictions on new or second hand goods.

Other Info

There is no other information required with regard to import of good. However National Disaster Management may seek the donor for further information if there is any requirement.
