Medical Equipment for new Hospice in Bucharest

Requested by

Hospices of Hope

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

There is limited existing infrastructure for the terminally ill within Bucharest. Poor patients in particular have no access to care.

We are trying to help terminally ill adults and children in Bucharest, regardless of age and their ability to pay.

We are currently providing palliative care for terminally ill patients within Romania (in the Brasov region).

We will also provide palliative care education for Doctors and Nurses.

The In-Patient Hospice in Bucharest will also be a focal point for advocating on issues around end of life care serving to promote awareness and excellence with key decision makers, stakeholders within the healthcare field for the rest of the country and region.

What is your project and how will it help?

To build a hospice for adults and a hospice for children.

Construction has started on both in 2012. The buildings are expected to be completed in 2014. They will provide all the recognized palliative care services; inpatient care, home care, day centers and outpatient clinics. We expect to help more than 1000 patients and their families every year and train over 200 doctors & nurse every year in palliative care.

Further information available on request, please do not hesitate to ask.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

We are looking for medical equipment for these Hospices.

We are open to partnerships for such eg groups that have these resources or funding for such. (For example we have worked with Hospitals and Offices that have given equipment and furniture for our other Hospices)

We are also looking for funding for the completion of the project or partnerships for those who are willing to stand alongside these aspects of healthcare for Bucharest and Romania.

We also have worked with companies re secondments and volunteer placements and open for offers of volunteering.
