Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

The Mmanze Centre for Rural Development & Training (MACERUDET) is a community based organisation in Uganda developing and managing self-help community projects.

We have a number of projects that desperately need financial support, but very little access to funds within Uganda.

The United States provides a number of fantastic fundraising opportunities to help fund our projects and make a real difference to the lives of people living in the Mmanze community. These opportunities range from Grants to online crowd funding platforms, but before we can access them MACERUDET must be registered as a 501c3 charity in the United States. This is where we need your support.

What is your project and how will it help?

MACERUDET has had some amazing support in the past from local organisations that have enabled us to complete projects with lasting positive change.

Some of these projects include the building of:
• The Busaawa-Mmanze Health Centre
• The Holy Cross Namutenga Community Orphanage Primary School
• The Mmanze Community Secondary School.
• Rain Water Harvesting tanks and pit latrine blocks for local schools and community facilities in the region, which can be seen in the video link that accompanies this request.

Unfortunately, raising funds is increasing difficult in the current economic climate and we must now look further afield for support.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

We are looking for support from legal advisors and other members of the community with experience in applying for 501c3 status to help us file the necessary documentation and work with us to liaise with the IRS as needed.

We are also happy to partner with a Fiscal Sponsor who already has 501c3 status during the time taken to complete the process. All support is, of course, greatly appreciated.
