Save Lives of Jewish Cancer Patients
Requested by
Ezer MizionWho are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?
For many cancer patients, the sole chance of survival is a bone marrow transplant. To ensure success, donor and recipient must gentically match. The Jewish people, like all ethnic grups, tend to match other Jews. A Jewish reigistry, therefore, is vitally important.
Prior to the founding of Ezer Mizion, the first and largest Jewish registry in the world, a Jewish cancer patient was almost never able to find a match in the universal registry.
What is your project and how will it help?
Ezer Mizion’s goal is to enlarge the registry to One Million so that almost all requests will receive a positive reply before it’s too late.
How can other people partner with you on your project?
We ask our potential partner to fund a group of tests to greatly decrease the chances of any request being returned with the words: No Match Found, a virtual death sentence.
Please detail the resources that you need.
Genetic testing is highly expensive (US$65 per test). However, reaching the million mark is vital so that lives are not lost due to lack of funding.
A Personalized Donor Pool can be set up for US$25,000 enabling the donor to receive notification of all lives saved via the genetic tests funded by his gift.
