Help poor children with HIV/AIDS to access education in Uganda

Requested by

Friends of Orphans Revival Ministries

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

The problem of Bukasa community is that most people are poor, living at the shores of lake Victoria. The big population numbers were attracted by the fishing activity in early 80s, and because there was lack of information about HIV/AIDS, it was said it was witch craft, led to very high spread of HIV/AIDS.

Due to poverty and the death of parents as a result of HIV/AIDS most of the children in the area have lost parents and relatives.

Many children do not go to school due to lack of tuition and scholastic material.

We need support to build a school, provide clothes and scholastic materials and funds to support income generating activities (IGAs) for care givers.

What is your project and how will it help?

The project of FRIENDS OF ORPHANS REVIVAL MINISTRIES will support 106 orphans, 22 disabled and 148 needy children.

The project is to provide the children between (6-17 years) with clothes and basic scholar material for them to be able to go to school which will be run by the project. This support will help increase the children’s enrollment and performance in school.

The project has land, where we hope to build a school to provide affordable education to the big numbers of children.

Finally, care givers will be supported with IGAs to raise funds to support children’s clothes and scholastic materials, which will help them focus their effort on providing decent food and housing for the vulnerable children.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

In achieving our goal towards our project, others are welcome to participate in different fields and these include:

- Partnering with the community, which will carry out mobilization and which will help sensitize parents to take their children to school

- Partnering in the field of volunteering, we are able to host volunteers.
