Provision of food, clean water, classroom construction and teachers' salaries in Uganda

Requested by

Community Based Initiative Centre - Rwenzori (COBIC-R)

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

COBIC-R wants to help children from the Bwera Junior School in Uganda which is in deplorable conditions.

Bwera Junior School is located in Mpondwe Lhburiha town council in Uganda near the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. A number of refugees have been arriving to Uganda from Congo since 1980 when insurgencies started in Congo. Bwera Junior School was established to assist the needy children coming from this situation.

There are today about 500 children in the school which lacks food, as well as clean water for sanitation and cleaning of toilets. Also, there are not enough classrooms and it is difficult to pay teacher’s salaries.

What is your project and how will it help?

The project of COBIC-R is to assist Bwera Junior School with the provision of food for the children, of water for toilets, the construction of classrooms, and the payment of teacher’s salaries.

This will help in promoting quality education for the orphans and vulnerable children of Bwera Junior School.

It will increase the number of children attending school by:

- help children’s learning by not being hungry while studying
- allow the access to clean water and sanitation
- give enough study space for the children
- increase teacher’s willingness to teach

How can other people partner with you on your project?
