Requested by
Mmanze Centre for Rural Development and Training (MACERUDET)Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?
MMANZE CENTRE FOR RURAL DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING-MACERUDET is a community based organization with twenty five years experience working with the socially and economically needy poor people in the typical rural areas of Uganda in Wakiso district.
We are trying to help the rural people in the typical rural areas of Uganda. We are trying to address many issues that affect the people. These include poverty, ignorance and diseases.
For the last twenty five years our organization has been implementing community based programs and activities by utilizing the services of volunteers both local and international. Since our organization has no established paid staff, we utilize volunteers to serve us in the different capacities and skills. Our approach is holistic and it is popular peoples participatory whereby all the stakeholders are included in all the stages of each identified program or activity. This approach has enabled us to mobilise the community to put on ground tangible physical projects like the following:
- Construction of Holy Cross Namutenga Community Orphanage Primary School currently serving around 253 needy students who are socially and economically needy coming from very poor families.
- Establishment of Busaawa Manze Health Centre III currently serving a catchment area of about 100,000 people.
- Mmanze Community Secondary School currently with about 850 students and 50 teaching and employing about 25 non-teaching staff
What is your project and how will it help?
Our project is holistic in such a way that it intends to improve services rendered at our priority projects under MMANZE CENTRE FOR RUREAL DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING.
1. MMANZE COMMUNITY SECONDARY SCHOOL is one of the projects under Mmanze Centre for Rural Development and Training. This is one of the projects that provides quality basic education to the socially and economically needy poor students/orphans. We provide other basic needs to the students. These include provision of uniforms, clothes, medical care. At the centre we conduct trainings for the parents/guardians of the needy students. We train the parents in sustainable agriculture with emphasis put to organic farming, community based health care, rural savings and credit, home environmental sanitation small scale business.
In that respect we need volunteers who can serve us at the school in the following fields:
- we need teachers running from SENIOR SECONDARY ONE TO SENIOR SECONDARY SIX
The school intends to renovate and expand its premises to accommodate more students who are poor and suffering. We are currently running a secondary school for students running from senior secondary one to senior secondary six. These students range between 13-16 years at ordinary secondary and 16 to 18 years advanced secondary.
Many children of school going age are illiterate and are also affected by HIV/AIDS. We started the school more than 20 years ago, to help these students and now want to expand our ability to offer them help, including food, education and shelter.
Our project is the expansion of existing facilities. The project will benefit needy students because we will be able to provide education and shelter, clothing and other equipment to enable the students to undertake vocational training.
We encourage volunteers from diverse fields to assist. Our constitution and operational guidelines allow us to partner with any organization that has similar objectives and development programs. Individuals, corporates have the opportunity to partner with us.
To seek for donor support that will help us in the project thereby implementing the intended project, equip it with relevant support incentives as well as administration in regard to the urgent needs on the ground.
