Uganda mental health promoters is a community base organisation registered under Jinja district local government. The organisation operates in Buwenge sub county and any other area deemed necessary by the fully registered members of the Association and neighbouring district.

The overall goal is to eradicate poverty, uplift the standard of living of people with mental complications in the community and living in a free mental illness environment is everyone’s right. The organization started with small group of people but now due to their service the number is increasing from 50 people to 250. The only challenge they are having is lack of funding but otherwise are serving the community, giving counselling and guidance to the families of people with mental health issues, creating public awareness of the local people on how to treat people with mental illness, Distribution of medicine to those under medication etc.
