Inclusive Business: Profitable business for successful development

Inclusive Business: Profitable business for successful development, a paper published by The Alliance for Inclusive Business and the WBCSD, defines Inclusive Business as one that seeks to contribute to poverty alleviation by including lower-income communities within its value chain while not losing sight of the ultimate goal of business, which is to generate profits. Hence while the emphasis of an Inclusive Business remains profitability, low-income populations are integrated within the business as suppliers, distributors and/or consumers of goods and services. The paper describes the work accomplished by two alliance partners, the WBCSD and SNV Netherlands Development Organization, in brokering new and inclusive business opportunities in low-income communities across Latin America.
