Flood Observatory - Dartmouth

Flood Observatory – Dartmouth detects, maps, measures, and analyzes extreme flood events worldwide using satellite remote sensing. Imaging of selected river reaches is used to detect floods and extreme low flow conditions. The Observatory also provides yearly catalogues, large-scale maps, and images of river floods, from 1985 to the present, and is developing methods for obtaining globally consistent measurements of these events. As the archive of reliable data grows, the Observatory hopes to predict where and when major flooding will occur.
