The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is the agency that is responsible for the overall coordination of Switzerland’s overseas relief and development activities. The SCD habeen working in Niger since 1977, helping to improve the quality of life and the living standards of Niger’s people, by reducing poverty. Currently SDC programmes focus on building local capacity, improving infrastructure, developing agriculture, and working towards a more equal society. The SCD also provides emergency food aid, and sponsors HIV/AIDS prevention programmes.
