Strongwomen Uganda is a community based organization with a mission of empowering women with knowledge, confidence and skills to work their way out of poverty, care for their families and strengthen their communities.
The work focus is on marginalized women and girls who are in female led households and are having the burden of taking care of their families but lack a stable source of income.
Strongwomen Uganda has adopted three approaches, provide them psycho social training to build their self esteem and confidence, economic empowerment where they are equipped with vocational skills, financial literacy and entrepreneurship skills to help them compete in the working environment. Vocational skills training involves training the women in tailoring skills, art and crafts, weaving and better farming skills.
Also, the women are equipped with business management skills and financial skills such as formation of saving groups and opening up bank accounts for their businesses.
Strongwomen also partners with other community organizations and groups that are focused on promotion of women’s rights as a way of strengthening women’s rights in the areas of operation. They also carry out community engagements and events where we fully involve the husbands and local leaders to fully understand the value of women, their rights and their contribution to the community.
Currently Strongwomen Uganda is working in Kazigo A, a village in Nambale sub county Iganga District. There is a vision of covering the entire district and Eastern region and reach out to all women that qualify for the program.
Currently in need of all kinds of support and partnerships such as financial support in form of donations and grants. Donations such as equipment in form of sewing machines, farming kits, and weaving kits. Also in need of volunteers to support implementing this program. Partnerships with other organizations that believe in the cause and with whom they share similar objectives and goals.
