World Health Organisation (WHO) - Syria

Unverified non-profit organisation

The World Health Organisation, the United Nations specialised agency for health, aims to coordinate international health activities and to help governments improve health services. Health is defined in WHO’s constitution as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, not merely absence of disease or infirmity. The overall objective of WHO in Syria is to support the health status of the Syrian people by working in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MoH), other health stakeholders, UN agencies and other agencies. Currently, much of its technical assistance has been in the area of health systems development, human research development (family medicine and nursing), primary health care, reproductive health, health promotion and prevention, community based initiatives, and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases
