Dupont and ADS joint initiative provides agricultural assistance to more than 10000 farmers in India

Pioneer Hi-Bred, a DuPont business and one of the world’s leading seed companies, and Access Development Services, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), announced their partnership to launch ‘Uday’, an initiative for Andhra Pradesh farmers.

UDAY AGRI is the initiative which DuPont Pioneer India has been supporting for the last 3 years in Karimnagar and Medak districts of Andhra Pradesh. Built on learnings from previous joint initiatives, the project aimed to provide sustainable solutions that has improved technology and agronomic knowledge transfer, supply appropriate farm inputs, and improve market linkages. In addition to support from Pioneer and Access, the Uday project relied on field level implementation by a local partner, NGOs, Peace and Krushi, and engaged other organisations and local companies to provide further value to the farmers and their communities.

The project established community-based satellite agri-business resource centres in Medak, Karimnagar and Nalgonda districts and at over 200 best practice and product farmer demonstration sites. Over 10,000 maize and rice farmers have access to the services of the Uday centres. These centres ensure that with the timely availability of seeds, farmers are able to raise better crops and their income levels increase. Community-based agri-business resource centers and demonstration sites have been developed to provide reliable supply of farm inputs, market linkages and agronomic services to farmers in . In July 2010 the group has been turned into a Farmer run producer company.
