Citigroup partners with Rainforest Alliance to support sustainable livelihoods and ecosystems

In 2007 the Citi Foundation granted $200,000 to the Rainforest Alliance (RA) to build the capacity of small and growing businesses and communities.

With the support of this grant, RA was able to train 300 participants in business skills in Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Peru. The project focused on tourism, forestry and carbon tasks with an engagement in economic activities that are socially and environmentally sustainable. RA also increased outreach and participation from Brazil, Chile and Colombia in the Sustainable Tourism certification network of the Americas.
