Volunteers and funding needed to facilitate 4 projects to protect vulnerable children in Uganda East Africa

Requested by

Community Active Network Uganda (CAN-Uganda)

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

Located near Kampala city along Gayaza Road, Can-Uganda is a not for profit community based organization initiated with the plight of transforming the most disadvantaged livelihoods and communities in Uganda East Africa. We aim to protect, rescue and prevent any form of children violence in Uganda. We would reach the unreached orphans and other vulnerable children in the communities/livelihoods that need help most especially in the rural and Peri-urban communities. They normally cannot afford the service they need.

What is your project and how will it help?

1). SAFE GUARDING CHILDREN TRAININGS AND FIRST AID SKILLS:
Organizing trainings on how to safe guard our children; affiliating with organization to offer homes to vulnerable children; providing handouts to trainees, mosquito nets to children and scholastic materials to victims of child abuse.

2). Psychosocial work: Providing social work aimed at rehabilitating children victimized by child abuse for three months; transferring affected children to orphanages or children homes affiliated to us
Returning children to families

3). Medical insurance: Paying initial premium fees for 100 members at a cost sharing basis

4). Youth entrepreneurship development skills centre: Establishing a vocational centre to provide job creating skills like candle making, beads making, brick laying artisan and welding carpentry.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

We are purely a voluntary based organization that doesn’t have any reliable source of funding or any donor agency other than support from friends, sympathizers, our own pockets and volunteer in terms of skills and any other when implementing our activities.
We are in need of occasional volunteers to
1) work on our partner grass root projects. The projects are always aimed at visible transformation of our needy communities/livelihoods

2) maintain previous projects implemented by Can-uganda and other partnering organizations.

3) carry out more needs assessment of marginalized communities/livelihoods and design appropriate sustainable projects that will benefit these communities.

4) facilitate us in ensuring that volunteer efforts, time and resources are not wasted but properly utilized and maintained to benefit those that are directed to.
You can also partner with us by providing financial assistance
