Construction and Equipping of Vocational School for the Less Privilaged in Cameroon

Requested by

Light and Life Mission Cameroon

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

Light and Life Mission Cameroon has been helping the widows, the very poor, the needy, the vulnerable, the orphans and the underprivileged in the areas where we have churches.

The issue is that in Cameroon, the fee of professional training is too high for poor children to afford it. We think that it is the duty of NGOs like ours to identify such gaps. That’s why we started up a school to support and help widows and their children, poor families, orphans, needy, street children, young mothers.

Light and Life Mission provides cheap and free training to Cameroonians through its Vocational School in Kumba. Thanks to it many people have the chance to receive training. We want now to extend to Douala where we now have the biggest church and help there also.

What is your project and how will it help?

Our project is equipping the Vocational School in Kumba and starting up a New Vocational School in Douala, Bonaberi.

We desire to hold training in different aspects:
Computer software and hardware, networking, hairdressing, dress making and styling, small business management, electronic and electrical repairs, woodwork and secretarial duties.

Our project targets young boys and girls, and aims to train them for various jobs at no cost or minimum fees depending on the statue of the applicant.

We believe that the training will enrich their intellectuality and help them develop their career path. This will benefit them their whole lives, and will also benefit the community development as training these groups of people is building the future of the Nation.
Training them will help fighting crime waves, prostitution, illiteracy and computer illiteracy.
Training them is a way of reducing poverty, HIV/AIDS, unwanted pregnancy and unemployment.
Training them is helping them to have a better standard of living.

Training widows is particularly important because they need jobs to take care of their children. Training them will help them get jobs and create jobs which will help sustain them and their families.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

Others can partner with us by:
- financial contribution (like sponsoring an orphan, a widow, a street children)
- assisting financially in the administrative cost of running the school
- providing us with the materials we need to train the students
- providing their technical knowledge (like training the students through being a volunteer trainer)

Our hands are open to everyone who wants to partner in any way possible.
