Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

Dharriwaa Elders Group is a non-profit association of Aboriginal Elders in Walgett, Australia. It supports Aboriginal elders to resume leadership roles in the community keeping active and healthy. It also promotes local Aboriginal cultural knowledge and identity and aims to develop the Walgett Aboriginal community. The organisation provides an Elders Centre and activities, and undertakes projects designed by the Elders to advocate for the protection of Aboriginal cultural heritage, and to maintain Aboriginal cultural knowledge.

What is your project and how will it help?

Dharriwaa Elders Group is researching enterprises it can operate to generate income to continue offering its services. The organisation operates out of a main-street shop and is researching retail opportunities. Profits generated will subsidise the organisation’s core activities.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

Dharriwaa Elders Group is keen to develop purchasing relationships with ethical manufacturers and suppliers of affordable children’s clothing, and freight suppliers to deliver the goods purchased to Walgett, Australia.
