Bus & vocational training equipment needed in Eastern Cape South Africa
Requested by
Cookhouse Children's Foundation and Cookhouse Church of ChristWho are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?
Cookhouse is located in in the Eastern Cape of South Africa and has a population of 10,000 people. Cookhouse is a town with the highest number of HIV / AIDS infections, vulnerable children, orphanages, etc.
Currently, there is only one clinic serving the entire community and surrounding farms with insufficient transportation to reach it. Also, the closest high school and hospital and doctors for them is in Somerset East which is 24km from Cookhouse. Students drop out of school because they don’t have enough money to reach the school.
What is your project and how will it help?
Our project is to help heal and restore this small but suffering community. The project includes the following:
1. Providing better transportation to the community so that the sick can receive care and students can attend school.
2. Providing sports and recreation to the community to provide an alternative to drugs, alcohol, and teenage promiscuity.
3. Providing better job opportunities and through that a better future. Job creation initiatives include a sewing project, agricultural projects, confectionary, poultry, upholstery etc.
How can other people partner with you on your project?
Partnership opportunities include:
1. Donating a bus or funding to purchase one
2. Donating sports and recreation equipment or the funding to purchase them
3. Donating equipment, volunteering time and expertise, and even start-up funding to launch new businesses in the community along the lines mentioned above.
