Support community development program in Uganda

Requested by

TEDO (The Eastern Development Organisation)

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

The number of orphans are escalating in Africa due to poverty and social upheaval that impact the communities. Our team remain committed to help people to restore lives and hopes. We help poor adults, youths and children affected by disabilities and illness. Our work focus on care, compassion, honesty, good stewardship of resources and transparency. We addresses social, emotional and economical problems with free good vocational training. We also provide safe and clean water to the affected communities to prevent water borne diseases such as cholera, typhoid, and dysentery.

The Eastern Development Organization (TEDO) is a non-profit organization with a key development organ in Africa. TEDO act in order to empower orphans, school dropouts, single mothers, widows, disabled, community leaders and church leaders. We aim to bring hope to victimized mothers of rape and neglected groups to fight against poverty and this bring us to look for support from voluntary individuals and organizations.

What is your project and how will it help?

The projects objectives are:

• To provide vocational skills and training to the orphans of HIV/AIDS victims, school drop-outs, youth and other vulnerable groups such as disabled in electrical installations, plumbing and pipe fitting, carpentry and joinery, welding and metal fabrications, hair dressing, brick laying and concrete practice, tailoring and knitting, motor vehicle mechanics and computer training.

• To provide clean and safe water and proper hygiene practices to the local communities, drilling boreholes, shallow wells digging and springs protections.

• To provide instant humanitarian aid to the victims of natural disasters like floods, landslides, earthquakes and drought.

Our programs will result in a model of delivering orphans, single mothers, widows, widowers, disabled people and training at community level that is both effective and sustainable for economical growth and development. As part of our engagement we are to provide step down skills for development and facilitating youths or groups with tools, equipment and machines to help them to start their careers or acquired skills (building trades) for income generating activities.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

We need financial support to meet our objectives.

- Goods to use for both vocational training, building trades; tools and equipments, machines, hair dressing machines and tools.

- Support to have our own constructed training centre instead of hiring.

- Support agricultural equipments and tools to support our community.

- Office equipments, furniture etc.

- Humanitarian aid during disaster periods, droughts, famines or epidemics.

- Pick up and motorbikes for office use and field workers for the programs we monitor.

- Solar panels/generator for use as we operate from remote areas.

- Bore drilling to provide safe clean water to the community.

We look forward in net-working and collaborating with others in order to maximize our impact.
