Requested by

Fondation des Femmes pour l'Action au Développement

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

Teenage mothers are very disadvantaged economically because they have to raise their children themselves. Otherwise, they do not any resource to sustain their livelihood. Mostly, they require assistance from their parents (since most of them are living with their parents at home.) For sake of equity, they need some impetus; to be empowered in order to be self reliant so as to enable them to raise suitably their children, avoiding being dependent from anyone else.

By financing such a project, it will reduce the rate of sexual work for teenager mother and increase income by creation of earning jobs, as poverty among teenage mothers often link with sexual work.

What is your project and how will it help?

This project is aimed at reducing poverty, creating new opportunities for the youth. This intervention will substantially assist single mothers with an initial fund of 200 $ after having trained her on skills building and creation of jobs for five days. They will be taught on fundamentals skills building for two days. Beside, on the third day, they will be introduced to an area of investment (small business, tailoring, soap making, bakery and embroidery, etc.) According to their area of interest, they will be trained and given insights on the nature of the work she is intending to do.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

Other people can partner with us in data collection, need assessment and nature of the job to do in any location, by telling us cost effectiveness and relevance of the business and statistics of potential clients.

Please detail the resources that you need.
