The Somali Humanitarian Aid and Development Organization (SHADO)is an indigenous national NGO established by local people together with members of the Somalian diaspora. The organisation aims to provide sustainable livelihoods intervention opportunities to support the most vulnerable communities both in the urban and rural areas of South-Central Somalia. The long term aim of such interventions is for beneficiaries to have access to better education, adequate primary health care, and employment opportunities. The organisation also encourages respect for the ideals of human rights, peace, and good-governance which should lead, in the long term, to sustainable development.
