Girl Child Network Uganda

Unverified non-profit organisation

The Girl Child Network Uganda (GCN) is a girls’ empowerment NGO. GCN mobilizes whole communities aiming to eradicate patriarchal structures that dominate homes, schools, and communities in order to support and develop an enabling environment that will promote and protect the rights of the girl child. GCN works to ensure that girls at risk and those most vulnerable to abuse are rescued and empowered to speak out, and through the provision of safe shelters and referrals to legal and medical aid, are able to stand up to defend their rights. GCN also supports girls to stay in school and advocates for violence-free school environments so that girls get maximum benefits from education. GCN also runs a vocational training, savings and loans programme, provides micro loans, consulting, and business development training for teenage mothers and school drop outs.
