Requested by
Young Heart FoundationWho are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?
Our project is to help the women in Madina, a suburb of Accra, Ghana. Madina has a population of 5000 women and there’s only one government maternity house taking care of all of them. The others are privately owned, leading to a lot of pressure on the facilities available, as well on the medical staff. The mortality rates among mothers and children also remains high.
What is your project and how will it help?
We are in the process of providing a maternity house to ease the pressure and for safe delivery. The project will help reduce the number of deaths during child birth, reduce pressure on existing maternity homes, put smiles on the underprivileged people’s faces and make the world a better place.
We also want to create an income generation projects, supporting those already in farming and those who want to start farming, create awareness and encourage girl child education, especially the single mothers about HIV-Aids. Poverty alleviation and empowerment are key things needed to put smiles on their faces.
