Free Donations of Vitamins and Deworming for Children and Pregnant Women

General information

Overall description

If you are an NGO registered in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean or the Middle East, and if you support children under 5 and/or pregnant women in communities of need, you are invited to apply for an annual vitamin grant.

If your application is approved, you will receive free vitamin A supplements and albendazole for children under age 5 and/or free multivitamins for pregnant women. We also provide educational materials.

The grant does not include any money. Vitamin Angels will, however, be able to cover some of the transport costs. They can provide assistance in shipping to your country’s main port of entry. Your organization is responsible for clearing the product through customs and transportation costs to the communities you serve.

Please respond to this offer if you are interested in receiving a donation of vitamin A, albendazole, and/or multivitamins for pregnant women, and Vitamin Angels will be in touch with you directly moving forward.

You can find more information about Vitamin Angels and how to become a Field Partner on their website at: https://www.vitaminangels.org/.

Goods details

Goods description

Vitamin A Supplements: By providing children under five years with vitamin A supplements, we can help reduce childhood infections, diarrhea, measles, and blindness as well as reduce mortality rates in children 6-59 months by up to 24%. Unlike most vitamins, vitamin A supplements are not a chewable daily vitamin. Instead, the tip of a small high-dose vitamin A capsule is cut off by a trained healthcare service provider and the contents are dripped into the child’s mouth. This concentrated dose is stored in the liver and slow released over time into the child’s system. A single dose can remain in a child’s system for 4 to 6 months. This method is the primary intervention recommended by the World Health Organization and UNICEF for vitamin A deficiency. Albendazole: Many countries with vitamin A deficiency are also endemic with intestinal worms. Left untreated, intestinal worms can cause abdominal pain and distension, increased susceptibility to serious infections, stunted growth, anemia, impaired cognitive development, and compromised nutrition. Vitamin Angels provides albendazole, a chewable tablet that is safe and can be given together with vitamin A every 4 to 6 months, to reduce a child’s burden of worms and allow for better absorption of available nutrients, including vitamin A. Multivitamins for Pregnant Women: Vitamin Angels’ women’s multivitamins are formulated to the standards set by the World Health Organization and UNICEF. The multivitamins contain 15 different vitamins and minerals that are needed to meet daily nutritional requirements. Evidence strongly suggests that among women who are undernourished, use of daily multivitamins reduces – even more than iron and folic acid alone – maternal anemia, the occurrence of low birth weight babies, and babies that are small for gestational age. Organizations which have their application accepted will receive free vitamins, assistance in shipping vitamins to the country's main port of entry, and educational materials. Hope and Aid Direct Verified non-profit organisation
    (Verified non-profit organisation)

Charles Storer MBE says: Hello. I started and lead the UK registered humanitarian aid charity 'Hope and Aid Direct'. We deliver humanitarian aid to refugees and extremely vulnerable people abroad. Many are of course from Syria, but also many other parts of the world. We are responding continually to the refugee emergency across Europe, and especially the Greek Islands where refugee numbers massively exceed refugee camp capacities. (Consequently thousands are sleeping rough or in ‘weekend’ tents, and there are several thousand young children). Maintaining their health is a major challenge. We also work with other charities who send or take aid themselves. These vitamins could be ideal for the volunteer medical teams, and especially if on an ongoing basis. We are a UK charity, but we have our own trucks and transport and deliver the aid ourselves. We deliver to trusted organisations in each major location, and they distribute to the teams that are working 24/7 locally to provide support and care. I do hope to hear from you. Thank you.
