Bonazah Community Development of Africa seeking support for phase I projects

Requested by

Bonazah Community Development of Africa, Inc.

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

Bonazah Community Development of Africa is involved at local level bringing help and offering support where it is most needed as each community has a very unique challenges. So many children may have to overcome many environmental or family difficulties in order to get to school. So our organization provides the space and opportunities in supporting the underprivileged children in Africa by providing humanitarian aid, promoting educational programs that encourage student retention in primary and secondary and stimulate interest in the educational process. We also provide food assistance for the hungry. Our operations are focus in rural areas where most of the children have less than 3% chance of exposure to some of the government assistance programs and other non-profits organization out there. Rural development in many parts of the world has faced the population declination due to diseases, drought, and poverty for the general population. Additionally, lack of available and equip health facility, couples, with the AIDS pandemic which has gripped and spread HIV and AIDS among the population, have left many children without parents. Children often are left to fend for themselves with the older siblings who in most cases are teenagers themselves to fill in the gap of parents.

What is your project and how will it help?

1. Employment of Teachers to augment critical shortage in Etwii’s three primary schools. Estimate Cost $9000.00 U.S. Dollars. Bonazah Community Development of Africa. This will enable the schools to have an assigned teacher per classroom. Current ratio of assigned teachers to a primary school is 2:6 and the shortage fill either by the Parents and Teachers Associations, Private individual or NGOs like Bonazah Community. Phase I focus on education will be at the Primary level where the future leaders of the world are nurtured. Emphasis here will be laid on improving educational standards at this level by employing well trained and qualified individuals who are highly industrious. The program seeks to sort out teachers who can bring out and promote the innate values and qualities of these pupils. Every Child deserves an education. However in Africa where many families live on less than one dollar a day, school is almost an impossible luxury. Children, often female, who cannot afford tuition and fees are forced to leave school and work or in some cases marry, at a young age.

2. Microfinance in Sub-Saharan Africa. Estimated Cost $4000.00 U.S. Dollars for the first year. Economic experts in International Development laud microfinance, which makes credit accessible to the world’s poorest poor, as a great solution to poverty alleviation and gender empowerment. However, due to rapid growth, limited education, and regulation, microfinance hasn’t been as successful in sub-Saharan Africa as it has been in South East Asia. This presents an opportunity for Bonazah Community Development of Africa to expand its global citizenship through business, by partnering with local African Universities and offering experiential learning opportunities. The partnership will engage students in the program to exchange ideas and develop methods to evaluate, design, implement, and assess microfinance schemes.
3. Provides material and financial support toward education. FY2013/2014: Estimated cost $15000.00 U.S. dollars. The material and financial support toward education will distribute to the payment of school fees and school materials. This project once realized will provide children with financial difficulty from rural areas the opportunity to gain affordable and equality in education either technical or vocational training, that would enable them to be self-sufficient and reliable members of society.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

People can help by joining our organization in sharing its vision by contributing either school materials, volunteers teaching assistant or financial support to help us fund some of our projects and support the underprivileged children with school supply as there are great needs. Many child may be in need of books, pencil, pens and others may need shoes, a school uniform, a hot meal, or a place where they can do their homework in peace. All of these needs are what our staff on the ground are busy working to identify each individual child’s demands so that the help we provides meets the child current needs.

Please detail the resources that you need.

We need financial support to ensure our goals are met. Material support is also welcome and appreciate. It could be a willingness to volunteer teaching abroad for a year or support our mission through donation.
