To equip Kismayu General Hospital and two MCHs with basic medical supplies

Requested by

DIAL Africa

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

Somalia has one of the highest mortality and morbidity rates in the world. According to Save the children 2013 report, Somalia was the second toughest place to be a mother, after Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Only 9% of mothers have births attended by skilled health personnel. The situation has been exacerbated by the civil war that had led to the breakdown of the available and remaining health institution. However, after the KDF takeover of Kismayu normality has been restored.
DIAL Africa has been supporting Kismayu General Hospital Maternal Child Health (MCH/OPD) department. DIAL Africa has a Doctor, several nurses and hospital staff who do offer the health services. However service delivery is restricted by lack of quality equipment. In addition current MCH/OPD DIAL Africa is in the process of establishing another MCH in Farjano village.

What is your project and how will it help?

Project Title: Equipping Kismayu General Hospital, its MCH/OPD, and intended MCH/OPD in Farjano village with basic medical supplies.
The project seeks to equip the Kismayu General Hospital, its MCH/OPD and an intended MCH/OPD in Farjano village with basic medical equipment to alleviate the health situation around Kismayu. Dial Africa supports the facilities through own funds thus would wish to request.
This will increase the number of Kismayu residents who can access reliable quality medical care as well as reduce child mortality rates, improve maternal health and combat HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other diseases.
