Peace Corps is an NGO which organises American volunteers’ participation in projects around the world. Collaborating with local community members, volunteers work in areas like education, youth outreach and community development, health and HIV/AIDS, the environment, information technology, and business development. Currently volunteers work in 138 host countries. While education and agriculture are still important, today’s volunteers also work on HIV/AIDS awareness, help to establish computer learning centers, or work on small business development. Peace Corps/Philippines assists with projects in agriculture, forestry, small business management, environment, conservation, health, urban and regional planning, water/sanitation, fisheries, youth and education.
