Magen David Adom (MDA), a member of the IFRC and Red Crescent Societies, treats human beings in need of help without consideration of creed, race or gender and dispenses advanced pre-hospital care as part of Israel’s national EMS system, while being Israel’s national blood services. Its activities also include offering training activities and other professional services to the public at large as well as delivering humanitarian relief to people around the world in times of catastrophes. The organization operates 119 stations over the country, with a fleet of over 700 ambulances nationwide. MDA also provide paramedics in the form of air ambulance services and armored ambulance services for mass casualty events. The organization relies heavily on over 10 000 volunteers, despite its 1200 medical staff, and is assisted by societies of MDA Friends abroad to raise funds .
