Economic Empowerment of the Poor in Africa and Asia

Requested by

Entrust Foundation

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

The world is a place of great need. Sadly, most of the heartache and pain is unseen by us and therefore never properly addressed. The Entrust Foundation helps the poorest of the poor, forgotten people on this planet. With over 30 years of experience, we have identified 4 major Causes, which if addressed will make the world a happier, safer and better place to live.

One of these causes is Economic Empowerment of the Poor, We directly help the world’s poorest people raise their income and standard of living. We give a ‘Hand Up’ not a ‘Hand Out!’

Overview:

Almost half the world are living on less than $2.50 a day. A major cause of financial poverty is that benefits of economic growth have not been fairly distributed. One of the best ways to help is to share resources in an equitable way. Entrust’s founder, Eugene Veith’s life motto was, “I live simply, so that all may simply live.”

What is your project and how will it help?

The Need:

Poverty has many expressions, the most obvious being a lack of finances. Therefore one of the most effective means of combatting poverty is economic empowerment of individuals & communities. The provision of food & consumables amongst the poor are short term solutions that easily create systems of dependence.

The creation of local micro-enterprise initiativesais a business tool that promotes fair trade, income provision & economic empowerment. Likewise, agriculture is a vital development tool for achieving the Millennium Development Goal that calls for halving the share of people suffering from extreme poverty and hunger by 2015. 3 out of every 4 poor people in developing countries live in rural areas, & most of them depend directly or indirectly on agriculture for their livelihoods.

Where your funding can make a diference:

Funds given through Entrust to support “Economic Empowerment of the Poor” will go toward cutting edge projects across Africa and Asia that;

Generate income for local individuals & communities in small businesses.
Mentor youth to learn new skills that allow them to obtain meaningful employment.
Provide locals with healthy & nutritious food all year round.
Provide families with income and positive work environments.
Educate farmers in sustainable agriculture for development.
Increased productivity for small rural farmers.
Create business & profit for the local community.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

Make a change in the lives of others, your financial partnership can bring about the following life change:

Increase sustainable development of business in the majority world.
Decrease poverty through empowering individuals on the ground.
Empower communities to work towards financial sustainability.

Please detail the resources that you need.
