Hand and Electrical Tools required for vocational training project in Zambia.

Requested by

Ibenga Area Gender Association

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

The Ibenga Area Gender Association is a Zambian NGO that works with young people, orphans and vulnerable children, the elderly, people with disabilities, and people living with HIV/AIDS. The Association aims to provide basic skills for self-reliance.

Despite our work, we still have to face increasing problems because of HIV/IADS, such as, unemployment, an increasing number of orphans, vulnerable children (OVCs) and youths in particular.

Many children are no longer interested in going to school and continuing their education. As a result, they often turn to drugs and alcohol. We thus also tackle the issue of unemployment, and have been focusing on reducing unemployment rates among, firstly, OVCs, youth, and then other women and men.

Our organization tries to prevent those problems by improving both the education of the students we teach and their lives more generally. We hope to accomplish this goal through teaching the students life skills. This will enable the young to engage themselves in meaningful activities of economic value and job creation within their society.

Unfortunately, due to the cost, we are not able to purchase carpentry tools we need to focus on our project. Therefore we require your help.

What is your project and how will it help?

Our project is simple: we believe youth is the future of tomorrow, and therefore we must give them the opportunity to show that they can succeed in starting their own projects or/ and business. If we cab purchase carpentry tools, we hope that young people will be attracted to this project, and finish or/and start their education, to better prepare them for their future and ultimately help them be more independent.

We are very confident in our project and believe that these tools will help bring about positive change and will help the less priveleged move towards a brighter future.

This project will have additional beneficiaries. Besides direct beneficiaries (people who take part in the project), the families of trained students, community members who buy the products and the district as whole, will benefit from the project indirectly.

It is for this reason that we need donors or/and corporates to provide the tools that we desperately need to change the lives of an entire community.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

Other people can partner with us by:
– Giving us funds to buy carpentry or /and electrical tools
– Buying tools themselves and sending them to us

Please detail the resources that you need.
