The ICRC is an independent organisation whose mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance. It directs and coordinates the international relief activities conducted by the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in situations of relief. The ICRC has been working in Azerbaijan since 1992, focusing on the consequences of the Nagorny Karabakh conflict. Members of the delegation visit people held in detention and other vulnerable detainees, and help to trace missing people. The ICRC is also involved in primary health care services, and is tackling TB in prisons.
