Office Humanitaire pour la Communaute Africaine

Unverified non-profit organisation

The Humanitarian Office for the African Community (OHCA) is a grassroots community organization. It was created on March 17, 1998 in the midst of the humanitarian crisis caused by the two civil wars in the DR Congo in 1996 and 1998.

Its purpose was to come to the aid of the displaced populations who were victims of the armed conflicts in the territories of Fizi and Uvira.
OHCA is a Congolese association with a humanitarian aim that supports vulnerable people in general, and children in particular. The objective of the association is to help them in their difficulties with a view to their successful socio-professional reintegration. The aim of the association is the establishment of an autonomous existence in favor of the most vulnerable, notably through economic reinforcement from the point of view of the family and the community.

During this period, OHCA worked on emergency aid projects. After the crisis, it held a general assembly in 2015, to change its approach towards resilient post-conflict activities, notably towards Food Security, Health and Education while taking into account cross-cutting activities such as HIV/AIDS prevention, Human Rights and Environment.

OHCA’s approach remains to be able to restore the confidence of this vulnerable population in order to build a better world around them through their economic and financial empowerment.
