World Food Programme (WFP) - Syria

Unverified non-profit organisation

World Food Programme (WFP) – Syria, a country office of the World Food Programme, provides food assistance to Syria through development and emergency operations. The projects target the poorest rural communities in marginalised areas, primarily small subsistence farmers, herders and rural women. WFP – Syria also supplies basic commodities to Iraqis living in Syria through an emergency operation in partnership with UNHCR and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent. The organisation operates a Food for Education programme which encourage schoolchildren and illiterate women living in rural, marginalised and food-insecure areas to attend schools or literacy classes in return for food assistance.
