Food and winter package for flood victims in Pakistan

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

The recent flood in Pakistan, Baluchistan in august 2012, has made 37355 families in desperate need of food, warm clothes and tents.

The overall assessment carried out by UNOCHA and PDMA for the children, women, old people, and people with disabilities were the most vulnerable among the affected population. Several of the agriculture dependent villages were experiencing problems with the health of their livestock and crops relating to water covering there cultivated land.

What is your project and how will it help?

UNOCHA and PDMA says that the floods negatively affected the quality of drinking water, agriculture, and health education of the entire population in these regions. The majority of the health facilities of the Kohna Tambu of district Naseerabad are for example under water. The people are suffereing due to non availability of proper source of shelter, food, medicines. Besides this, the lacking of pure drinking water and sanitation issues are prone to water-borne diseases which multitude by stagnant water of flood which producing mosquitoes.

• Water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) interventions
• Mosquito nets
• Pit hole latrines
