Provision of clothes and scholastics for a Primary School in Uganda

Requested by

Syakwira Model Primary School

Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?

The project of the Syakwira Model Primary School will support 276 children, out of which 106 are orphans, 22 are disabled and 148 are needy children.

The problem of Munkunyu Community is that most people are below the poverty line. This is a consequence of the political instabilities that Uganda has lived in for a long period of time. The rebel military group National Army for the Liberation of Uganda (NALU) and now also the Allied Defense Forces (ADF) raided from 1989 up to 2006, in an attempt to overthrow the government.

These groups have staged attacks on civilian populations and small villages.
The second factor is that Kanyampara, Munkunyu has been hit by draught which has been very negative to the development of the area. This is because the area, situated on the equator line, has agricultural practices that have not been supported by weather conditions hence leading to low yield.

This poverty is the responsible one for children going to school in unbelievably bad clothing and other learning materials are neither good.

What is your project and how will it help?

Supporting children with scholastic materials/ basic needs in syakwira model school.
The project is to provide these 276 children of the Syakwira Model Primary School with proper clothes and basic scholar material for them to be able to learn and growin a conducive environment.

These simple material will help increase the children’s performance in school. Moreover, it will help as children will not be send out of school due to lack of basic needs.

Finally, parents/guardians will be releaved of the charge of providing their children with clothes and scholastic materials, which will help them focus their effort in providing decent food and housing for their children.

How can other people partner with you on your project?

In achieving our goal towards our project, other play actors shall be involved in participating in different fields and these include:

- Partnering with our Health department, which shall assist in providing medical care to the pupils and the staff
- Partnering with our Education department, which shall play a role of improving the academic standards and general guidance
- Partnering with our Auditing department, which will cause transparence between the administration and the management
- Partnering with the community, which will carry out mobilization and which will help sensitize parents to take their children to school

Please detail the resources that you need.
