Provention Consortium
(Unverified non-profit organisation)
ProVention was established by the World Bank in 2000 to address the increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters and their impact on developing countries. Focusing on disaster risk reduction, the ProVention Consortium includes a broad range of partners from development to humanitarian organisations and from both the public and private sectors, with the goal of providing a forum for dialogue and a framework for collective action. ProVention offers an informal forum where actors can dialogue on risk issues, address critical problems and form collaborative initiatives. The Consortium also functions as a dynamic network with the explicit aim of brokering links between organisations and across sectors, providing opportunities for partnerships and information exchange.
