Catholic Relief Services (CRS) was founded in 1943 by the Catholic Bishops of the United States to assist the poor and disadvantaged. CRS has worked in Colombia since 1954. The current CRS programme aims to address the injustices occuring as a result of the illegal drug trade and more than 30 years of civil war. The programme promotes cooperation between the US and Colombian Catholic Church, focusing on emergency and humanitarian assistance and promoting peace-building.
