The L'Occitane Foundation helps to fund an eye care centre in Bangladesh

ORBIS, an international NGO fighting against avoidable blindness in developing countries, is working with the L’Occitane Foundation to establish an opthalmology unit in Bangladesh.

The unit will be established in an urban hospital and will have three satellite centres which will provide eye care for rural populations.

The L’OCCITANE Foundation has committed itself to funding one third of the
total cost of this project.

Funds for the donation will be raised by selling products in the L’OCCITANE stores. This year, the fund-raising product benefiting ORBIS is a set of three soaps, the « Moments of Africa Soap Set » produced in Burkina Faso.

The project has already had a major success in Jamalpur. At the end of the first year, the “Islamia Eye Hospital” committed to building a new hospital that it will fund and administer. Given the support of Islamia and the success encountered in Jamalpur, these rural hospitals provide a model of care that can be replicated elsewhere.
