Sanitation project for village girls in Andhra Pradesh, India
Requested byLove and Care Charitable Mission
Who are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?
The Love and Care Charitable Mission is a faith-based Indian NGO based in Andra Pradesh that provides care for deprived women and children, many of whom are picked up from railway stations, bus shelters or the streets. The organisation provides food, clothing and shelter. We focus on tribal villages, children’s education, medial and health services and community health programmes. We are actively working with local partners, church elders.
In the remote areas where we work there are 120 village elementary schools which have no toilets. This means that many girl children do not attend school. The Government is unable to provide these facilities because of lack of funding.
There are at least 150 children in each school, but only 50 or 60 children attend school because of the toilet situation.
What is your project and how will it help?We want to provide toilets for the schools which do not have them. We also want to help with the children’s education.
How can other people partner with you on your project?
We need funding to build the toilets. The village elders have provided places for the toilets, but we need partners to help us achieve our aim.
Please detail the resources that you need.
Each toilet costs rupees 150,000 = USD 2,800
We are aiming at constructing in total 120 toilets.
