Hope Children's CentreWho are you trying to help? What issue are you trying to address?
Hope Children’s Centre, formerly Christ Our Hope Orphanage Centre, is a rural community educational institution in the Wakiso District, Uganda. The Centre offers formal and vocational education mainly to AIDS/HIV orphaned and vulnerable children. Training in carpentry and tailoring helps pupils to acquire skills and thus to become self reliant if they do not progress to higher education. In addition the Centre also offers general social support services to rural disadvantaged communities with an emphasis on marginalised families through the provision of income generating activities and the promotion of water, hygiene and sanitation
What is your project and how will it help?
Promotion of Volunteer Service at the Centre for improved educational learning skills will help to introduce new skills from the western world both in general and in regard to spoken English, co-curricular activities, cultural exchange, and technical/vocational training. The children will acquire knowledge and skills from different cultures across the world and the volunteers will experience Uganda the “Pearl of Africa” through visiting the many tourist attractions centres which will bring income to our country
How can other people partner with you on your project?
Through volunteering while imparting knowledge and skills to the less priviledged children at the centre, through locating those who may be interested in volunteering and adventuring, through contacting organisations and individual welwishers, good samaritans and donors who may assist us in achieving our goal.
