World Food Programme (WFP)

(Unverified non-profit organisation)

Set-up in 1963, WFP is the United Nations frontline agency in the fight against global hunger and is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger.

WFP provides food aid to regions facing chronic food deficits, supports education of children through school feeding activities, supports increased access to community health centres, improves disaster-preparedness and supports rural development through food for work and food for training.

Eradicating hunger, part of the MDG No.1, is the key to development. While people are hungry, all other development activities are thwarted. The hungry can concentrate on little except their next meal. Hungry mothers give birth to hungry children, who will, if they live long enough, grow into hungry adults.
