The Misuuni Development Self Help Group is a Kenyan CBO engaged in community work.The group was started by members of Misuuni community in 2007. The group’s main objective is to alleviate poverty in Misuuni village where drought and famine are perpetual.The community has suffered for a long time due to severe draught which has affected the area for many years making the community lives below poverty level . Misuuni village is located in the arid and semi- arid land of kathiani District. Close to 70 per cent of the Kathiani District’s population lives below the poverty line with more than half of those unable to meet their basic food needs and have a chronic reliance on relief food or handouts.
