A Micro Credit success story
Since 1997, the Tunisian Bank of Solidarity (BTS) has helped young graduates to create their own enterprises. In its ten years of existence, the Bank has helped more than 460,000 microenterprises and startups.
Created by the Tunisian Government, the Bank works with NGOs, helping them to buy material and set up businesses for young entrepreneurs.
An example of the kind of people the bank helps is Zayed Trabelsi, 36, an engineer who graduated from a German university. He set up an enterprise in Tunisia specialising in new industrial technologies. He received a loan from the Bank of Solidarity and in a few years managed to develop his business, hire 5 other engineers and is expanding his business at a rate of 50% per year.
