Mercy Corps International - China

Unverified non-profit organisation

Mercy Corps is a not-for-profit international humanitarian agency. Its goal is to alleviate suffering, poverty and oppression by helping people build secure, productive and just communities. Believing that communities must be the agents of their own transformation for change to endure, Mercy Corps helps local citizens work together to find solutions to their problems and enables local organizations and institutions to implement projects that will improve their quality of life.

Mercy Corps accepts in-kind donations that meet the needs of their field programs, such as building materials and computers. In China, Mercy Corps works with those who have not yet seen the benefits of China’s economic growth. It provides microfinance programs that offer start-up capital and technical assistance to low-income people.

Previously they have delivered rapid assistance in the event of disasters such as the 2008 Sichuan earthquake, when Mercy Corps launched a major relief and recovery programme in the immediate aftermath.
